Constructing Dreams & Bright Futures

If there is one aspect of Clayco that has consistently rang true since its establishment decades ago, it's that our organization is dedicated to bettering the lives of people in underserved communities. Clayco is proud to be one of the many sponsors of the Construction Career Development Initiative (CCDI), which connects youth in underserved communities with career opportunities in construction.

This past weekend, CCDI hosted its first Saturday Academy session at Clayco with 25 ambitious high school students looking to expand their personal and professional development. It was an incredible success! Events like these are integral to connecting youth from under-resourced neighborhoods with career opportunities in construction. CCDI has a strong class of seniors in the program this year, and it’s great to see how the initiative helps them discover their path in construction.

CCDI is a reminder of all the advancements that come when people unite for the common good. It is also a reminder that nothing worthwhile is ever accomplished alone. I would like to thank Dan Lester Sr., MCA, for being an inspirational teacher concerning the Clayco Enterprise and the importance of building a trusted brand, Sandra Marks for sharing powerful words of wisdom, Clayco’s Jesse Sanders and Asim Manuel, BSME, MBA, and the eight amazing CCDI Alumni for speaking to the students and leading breakout sessions during the first Saturday Academy.

The impact of CCDI doesn’t stop at one event. The 8th Annual Golf Tournament and dinner reception was recently held at Glen Echo Country Club! This tournament raised money for CCDI’s mission – something our Clayco enterprise firmly supports as one of the top sponsors, along with Steel Service, icon Mechanical, and PayneCrest Electric. The dinner reception was filled with various people who play essential roles in every CCDI success story, and for that, we are all thankful!

CCDI’s next hands-on session is on October 28th at North Tech. There are also construction site visits on November 18th and December 16th. Everything is an open invitation, and if you are interested in becoming a sponsor or would like more information, reach out to Rachel Boemer.

Let’s keep building the best and brightest foundation for positive change!
