It’s now been just over a month since the tornado hit St. Louis, and the push to rebuild remains steady and strong.
Every day, recovery teams, volunteers, city officials, and local businesses are working shoulder to shoulder—clearing debris, restoring homes, and rebuilding hope. What began as an urgent response has grown into a sustained, city-wide operation.
Clayco has been involved from the start. Executive Vice President Rick Moeckel has been leading the charge from our side, working closely with the city to help coordinate logistics and on-the-ground recovery. He’s been joined in this effort by Chief Talent Officer Katie Lane, who has played a critical role supporting strategy, communications, and daily coordination. Together, they’ve represented Clayco in one of the most collaborative, public-private recovery responses our region has seen.
“This isn’t about us—it’s about what’s possible when people drop the ego and get to work,” Rick said. “What’s happening here is real collaboration, and it’s making a real impact.”
Mayor Cara Spencer has continued to lead all efforts with purpose and grit—joining early morning briefings, showing up at sites across the city, and helping to align an incredibly diverse coalition of partners. Builders like McCarthy, Keeley, Paric, Alberici, Brinkman, Castle, Concrete Strategies, KAI, Millstone Weber, BSI, TW Constructors, Fred Weber, and many others have continued to step up, contributing people, equipment, and support. Churches, nonprofits, and community groups have served thousands of meals. This is what it looks like when St. Louis comes together.
A rallying cry has emerged across the recovery effort—one that speaks to the unity driving this work: “For STL, For Each Other.” Mayor Spencer has helped amplify that spirit, showing what shared purpose and leadership can look like in real time.
Tonight, June 20th, the Clayco Foundation Relief Fund is hosting a fundraiser at our new St. Louis office to support all STL RECOVERS community relief efforts. We will be recognizing six grassroots community organizations that have been boots on the ground since day one, providing vital assistance to the St. Louis communities hit hardest by the storm. If you’re able, please consider donating: claycorp.com/stl-tornado-relief
The work continues. So does the commitment. This is what it means to be St. Louis strong.
