A Record-Breaking Moment for Safety at Clayco

At Clayco, SAFETY is our FIRST priority. Always. It’s personal – when I first started Clayco the industry wasn’t very safe and I wanted to have jobsites where my team knew we took safety seriously and their families wouldn’t worry. We implemented so many protocols that have become industry standards.

So today, I’m so proud to share that our 2025-2026 Experience Modification Rate (EMR) is the lowest on record in our company’s history: 0.39.

For those outside the industry, EMR is the metric that insurance providers use to compare workplace safety across companies. A baseline score is 1.0. Anything below means you’re outperforming the industry. To be at 0.39, across a company our size, with the volume and complexity of projects we manage, is unheard of.

And we didn’t get here by accident.

This result is the product of thousands of people making safety their number one priority, year after year across all jobs. It’s the result of field leaders stopping work to make something safer, of new ideas like on-site nurses and fall-protection innovation, of hard conversations, and a company-wide refusal to settle for “good enough.”

We believe no one should get hurt at work, and we’ve been pushing that standard since the day I started this company. We look out for the team, and the team looks out for each other.

Congratulations to every person who has a hand in this. From our safety teams and trade partners to project managers, executives, and partners, thank you for helping us raise the bar not just for Clayco, but for the entire industry.
