Congratulations to my friend, the former Chicago Mayor and future Ambassador to Japan Rahm Emanuel! It’s a well-deserved nomination for him, great recognition for Chicago, and the right steward for our country’s trusted global relationship with Japan.
Rahm has a huge amount of political experience and knowledge, he’s a good fit for the job. I know he’s going to do great things in bettering our country’s relationship with one of our most important global allies. I’ve worked with him over the years on a lot of initiatives, and his dedication to a life of public service has made our city, state, and country stronger.
He was incredibly supportive of Clayco when we decided to move our headquarters from St. Louis, Missouri to Chicago, and he was a leader in shaping the city over his eight-year term as mayor.
He’ll be a strong representative for our nation, helping to support our ties to Japan in one of the most important regions in the world. I wish him the very best as he takes up his post in Tokyo and am looking forward to working with him again in the future.
