Inspiration of the Month: Lendel Del Cid

This month's inspiration is Lendel Del Cid, one of our Senior Site Safety Managers at Clayco.

Lendel's story started in a small town in Guatemala. He came to the United States, completed a union carpenter apprenticeship in 2009, and built his career around a single mission: making sure every worker goes home safely at the end of the day. His father, a Project Superintendent until his passing in 2013, shaped the leader Lendel is today. He taught Lendel to lead with integrity, lead by example, make your voice heard, leave a positive impact wherever you go, and never forget to smile. Those lessons have stayed with him.

Today, Lendel is leading safety efforts on the Kali Hotel and Rooftop, Autograph Collection in Inglewood, his third project with Clayco. It's personal for him. He grew up in Inglewood and remembers when Hollywood Park Racetrack stood on that same ground. Watching a community he once called home transform while he helps build its future is not something you take for granted.

Something he created on this project stopped me when I heard it. Lendel started the Hollywood Superstar Award, where workers who show an outstanding commitment to safety get recognized on the project's own Hollywood Wall of Fame. It's simple, it works, and it says a lot about how he thinks about leadership.

He told me something I haven't stopped thinking about since. Years from now, he said, he'll barely remember the buildings. What he'll remember are the conversations, the mentoring, and the moments where something he taught prevented an injury or saved a life. That's the job, as far as he's concerned

Lendel, your leadership is impactful. Thank you for your unwavering commitment to protecting the people who make our projects possible. You're making a difference.
