Inspiration of the Month: Steve Schnur

There are a lot of parallels between high level sports and business. Steve Schnur has lived both.

He helped lead Northwestern to a Rose Bowl appearance during one of the most significant turnarounds in college football. It came from discipline, consistency, and a belief that performance can improve with the right mindset and leadership.

Today, as COO of CRG, he is focused on what he calls "completions." Not in the football sense, but in the way business actually works. Finishing what you start, delivering for your partners, and following through when it matters.

The environment has changed, but the fundamentals have not.

In development today, markets shift. Costs move. Capital gets more selective. You cannot control all of it.

What you can control is how you respond. The teams that perform are the ones that stay disciplined, stay focused on their strengths, and keep executing through uncertainty. You focus on the next play and move forward.

At CRG, that means staying in sectors where we have conviction and experience. Industrial, logistics, data centers, advanced manufacturing, residential.

That kind of focus becomes more important when conditions get tougher. It is easy to get distracted by noise. The better approach is to stay consistent and rely on fundamentals.

At the end of the day, this business comes down to execution. Plans and ideas are important, but they do not create value on their own. Results do.

The teams that succeed are the ones that finish. They stay focused. They execute. They deliver.

That is the mindset we bring to Clayco and CRG every day.
