Shawn and I love Chicago. We have deep roots and headquarters here, and we are always looking for the next step of innovation to make our communities stronger and safer.
We pledge our best effort and goodwill to Mayor-Elect Brandon Johnson. The ME won a tough election and has one of the most important jobs in the United States. It’s a well-deserved nomination and offers great potential for the city of Chicago.
ME Johnson is an American educator and member of the Democratic Party. He was first elected and served on the Cook County Board of Commissioners in 2018 after defeating the incumbent and won reelection to the County Board in 2022. He will become the city’s fourth African American mayor after his inauguration next month. I believe that ME Johnson’s experience in human services, youth development programming, and management will position him for success in his upcoming role.
Although he has not yet taken office, ME Johnson recently visited the state capitol to speak to state lawmakers about the importance of Chicago and Springfield’s collaboration to curb violence throughout the city. Regardless of political stance, I think every Illinois resident can agree that we want the best support, initiatives, and allocated resources to ensure safety and sustainability well into the future.
I wish ME Johnson the best as he takes up his post and begins the journey toward brighter days for Illinois and the Chicagoland area. Let’s all do our part to support his success!
