The Future Is Taking Shape on the South Side
The Illinois Quantum and Microelectronics Park is transforming a historic South Side steel mill into a global center for quantum computing, innovation, and economic growth.

This is where the future of aerospace takes shape! Phase 2 of the Toray carbon fiber manufacturing expansion in Spartanburg added 300,000 square feet of new production space to support growing demand across aerospace markets in North America.
Building an addition of this scale next to a fully operational chemical facility took careful planning and steady coordination. The team installed more than 500 ground improvement piers, constructed specialized wastewater trenches and pits, placed an 8-foot-thick mat slab designed to handle dynamic process loads, and erected over 3,800 tons of structural steel, all while plant operations continued without interruption.

Safety and communication drove every step, and alignment made the difference. Clayco worked closely with LJC and the ownership group to ensure the building and manufacturing systems operate as one. With active process chemicals on site, the project required strict permitting, real-time vibration monitoring, and daily collaboration with plant leadership so construction and production stayed fully aligned.
Even as process designs evolved and field conditions shifted, the team met every contractual milestone and delivered the space ready for move-in as planned.
Projects like this reflect the discipline, safety, technical excellence, and collaborative partnership required to deliver critical industrial infrastructure at scale.
