Art inspires, connects, and brings meaning to the spaces we share.
At Clayco, great design and development go beyond function and speak to the heart of a community. That’s why we’re proud to infuse the Art & Science of Building with CRG, Lamar Johnson Collaborative, and Related Midwest on the Illinois Quantum Microelectronics Park! Together, we’re not just building a world-class research and innovation hub—we’re helping shape a bold future for science, technology, and the communities that will thrive around it.
The vision for the 400+ acre transformation on Chicago’s South Side is to reimagine a former symbol of American industrial strength as the Quantum Campus at 8080 South Lakeshore. Our Clayco team understands that innovation and art belong hand-in-hand, and we are incorporating public art installations that celebrate the vibrant cultural heritage of the South Side. These works do more than decorate the space. They celebrate the community’s history, resilience, and spirit, helping to create an environment where science and creativity grow together.
Incorporating public artwork is a bold expression of identity and is something our teams strive to do across the nation. At Lathrop Homes, for instance, our team worked with local artists to create a mural honoring social reformer Julia C. Lathrop and sculptural seating that reclaimed displaced wood, giving new life to materials rooted in Chicago’s past. That same spirit will guide our work at IQMP, where community-informed art will help transform a former steel site into a beacon of beauty, science, and innovation.
As we continue to shape a global hub for quantum technology, we’re also investing in something just as vital: art that reflects and uplifts the spirit of the community. Even better than the unprecedented technological innovation this project will spark will be the pride, connection, and identity it brings to the people who live with it every day. When we honor both the artistic and scientific dimensions of a project, we don’t just change the skyline—we expand what’s possible for the next generations.
Let’s keep going towards the kind of future worth building!
