“Going Quiet” when everyone else is too LOUD!

An American icon and hero is “going quiet”.

As an entrepreneur who has been riding an amazing wave of growth over the years, I have been a student of some of America’s iconic figures and have been educated by their public speaking, writings, biographies, and social media posts. Always looking for tidbits and successful strategies to tweak Clayco and continuously improve and innovate. Steve Jobs, Bill Gates, Jeff Bezos, Phil Knight, Satya Nadella, and James Dyson, to name a few worth studying.

But one person stands out to me. Warren Buffett is a giant among giants. The “Oracle of Omaha”.

Warren Buffett is more than an investing legend; he’s a model of wisdom, humility, and integrity. From his modest life in Omaha, he built one of the world’s greatest companies while never losing sight of honesty and purpose. His clear thinking and long-term vision have inspired millions to see business not just as a way to build wealth, but as a way to build character and create lasting good.

Back in 2008, I was able to staff/host an event in his home. I arrived early, expecting to be met by security or staff, and rang the doorbell. Warren answered the door, greeted me as an old friend would, and then he gave me a brief tour of the house before he went to get dressed for the event. I was star-struck.

I was moved by his recent letter. What I think is a timeless letter about “going quiet.” It’s classic in tone; simple, wise, and deeply human. I recognized myself in his words: the desire to focus on what really matters, to let the work and the impact speak louder than the noise. It’s a letter worth reading. And it’s a reminder that true leadership often whispers.

To steal another Quote from one of my heroes, “The best thing I did was to choose the right heroes!
