Celebrating Safety Milestones with AESC Gigafactory

AESC’s 1.5 million square foot state-of-the-art battery cell gigafactory in South Carolina is paving the way for improved global welfare!

I attended the groundbreaking of this pivotal project last year, where we celebrated all the great opportunities to come – including the creation of 1,170 jobs to help power the next generation of electric vehicles and foster a sustainable future in the United States and beyond.

The site recently marked 365 days and 297,205 working hours injury-free with an evacuation drill and appreciation luncheon. It was an extraordinary testament to how Clayco, our partner companies, and the incredible businesses we collaborate with put SAFETY FIRST in everything we do. This milestone comes at a perfect time as we also observe Construction Safety Week from May 6th to 10th and reaffirm our commitment to ensuring that every team member returns home safely to their loved ones at the end of each work day.

Our dedication to safety doesn’t happen only inside the walls we build. It extends to every corner of our planet and communities. Like Clayco, AESC's values put people first and aim to cultivate a healthier society. Not only will the 30GWh plant be powered by 100% net zero carbon energy and solve complex industry challenges, but it will also be an integral part of the company’s strive to redefine the battery for a beautiful energy world.

AESC harnesses cutting-edge net-zero system solutions such as renewable energy generation, AI-driven carbon reduction, and battery recycling to accelerate the journey toward carbon neutrality. The business also commits to responsibly sourcing critical battery components, which supports global human rights and ethical business practices.

With Lamar Johnson Collaborative as the architect and integrated design by CRG and Concrete Strategies, I’m proud to see our greater Clayco family be an important part of the decarbonization revolution. Our teams remain dedicated to investing in transformative developments that propel both local communities and the broader U.S. economy and international markets forward.

Get ready for a new era of technology and innovation when operations begin in 2026!
